What Is Child Saftey?
Queensland's child protection system is designed to protect children from harm, promote their wellbeing and make sure their best interests come first.
The main legislation is the Child Protection Act 1999 (Qld).
There is also now the Child Safe Organisations Act 2024 (Qld), which commenced from 1 October 2025. It requires organisations that provide services or activities for children—including sporting clubs and coaching services—to implement Child Safe Standards.
